Headquartered in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington, the company is locally owned, locally run and deeply connected to the local community. Third generation builder Kirk Gronvold launched Blue Water Design Build in 2007 after working in a family-owned construction company since he was old enough to swing a hammer.

At Blue Water Design Build, our roots reach back more than 50 years when Kirk's grandfather came to Seattle from Norway. He brought with him the skill and experience of master craftsmen from his own country and began building homes. Grandpa Gronvold's business thrived because he took pride in quality craftsmanship and believed in giving his customers the best value for their money. In addition to building homes, Grandpa was also building a family.

Soon, Kirk's father was working at Grandpa Gronvold's side, absorbing knowledge and pride in a job well done. After returning from World War II, Kirk's father earned an engineering degree under the GI Bill. Soon he launched his own construction company and began the second generation of quality craftsmanship for a good value.

Growing up Kirk Gronvold never doubted his life's ambition. Working side by side with his father, he too learned the construction business from the ground up. After completing his college degree, he joined his father's company full time and continued the tradition of quality craftsmanship.

With Blue Water Design Build, Kirk has realized his dream of starting a construction company with the design build model. Blue Water Design Build is licensed, bonded and insured.
