Kirk Gronvold

Third generation builder Kirk Gronvold began his career early, working side-by-side with his father. After graduating from Seattle University in 1985, Kirk chose to continue the family tradition of providing quality craftsmanship. For 22 years, he worked in the family-owned business, expanding the services offered and gaining extensive experience and knowledge.

In 2007, he launched Blue Water Design Build LLC to focus on the design build services. The company provides homeowners, builders and developers with quality craftsmanship for new construction and remodeling. A home services division provides home repair and maintenance with the same commitment to quality.

As the owner of Blue Water Design Build, Kirk continually strives to exceed customer expectations. He believes that making homeowners dreams come true is a magical task that can be accomplished through hard work, attention to detail and establishing clear communication with the customer and the professionals working on the project.

Kirk and his wife Donna are raising their three children in the Seattle area. The family shares a passion for boating. Together, Kirk and Donna ensure that a work/life balance includes plenty of time on the water.

Wendy Colgan ~ Interior Designer

Wendy Colgan is an award winning interior designer with over 10 years of experience. Her work has been featured in the Seattle Times Parade Magazine and she has received design awards from the National Kitchen & Bath Association and The Master Builder's Association of King County. She is a graduate of the University of Washington.

Wendy works collaboratively with homeowners to help them articulate and realize their vision. One of the biggest challenges for many clients is visualization, it's so hard to know what something is going to look like from a little chip. Wendy uses a very sophisticated 3D modeling program so that her clients can see on screen what she can see in her head. It helps when communicating with each other so the project that was once a dream becomes reality!

Wendy's other passion include world travel and art.

Duane Schwab ~ Manager

Duane has worked for Kirk for over 9 years. When Blue Water Design Build launched in 2007 we were happy to secure Duane as our Maintenance manager. With a background in electronics repair and maintenance there simply isn't anything that Duane can't fix! Duane has extensive skills in appliance repair, drywall install and patching, flooring install and repair and everything in between.

Duane is known to always have a smile, positive outlook and a can do attitude. Clients are consistently impressed by his work and ability to exceed their expectations.

Jonathan Bruley ~ Lead Electrician

Jonathan Bruley joined Blue Water Design Build over 1 ½ ago, he has been a welcome addition to the team. He brings 15 years of experience in electrical skills including, custom homes and low voltage electrical rewiring. Jonathan enjoys all aspects of his profession and welcomes the challenges of making what was once old, new and improved!
Jonathan is a native Washingtonian who enjoys spending time with his family and taking in many of the outdoor activities that Washington has to offer; hiking, fishing skiing and camping. As a young man Jonathan also served his country by enlisting in the Navy.
